Catch Up

Oh my gosh!  I'm so sorry for not posting!  I've been in kind of a review funk, but have been reading a lot!  I'll try and catch you up!

1.  The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
✎✎✎✎✎
I love classics and this one did not disappoint.  The characters were so magical!

2. The Book of Broken Hearts by Sarah Ockler
✎✎✎✎
This book was sweet but the protagonist was a little wimpy!

3. This Is What Happy Looks Like by Jennifer E. Smith
✎✎✎
This was completely disappointing.  The idea was cliche and overdone.  No more famous actor falls for regular girl, okay?  However, I will give it props for the original presentation.

4.  Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
✎✎✎✎✎
Rainbow Rowell is one of my new favorite writers!  These characters will stick with you, and the ending is absolutely breathtaking.

5.  Nantucket Blue by Leila Howland
✎✎✎
This book was an interesting concept, except that the ending didn't wrap up many of the problems, and overall the characters were a bit cliche.

6. The Elite by Kiera Cass
✎✎✎✎
Overall, this book was evenly paced but nothing special.  The magic I felt with The Selection was barely there.  This feels like a filler book in between The Selection and The One.  You almost could split this one in half and attach it to the end and front of the other two books.

7.  Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
✎✎✎✎✎
What can I not say about this book?  It was utterly the best book that I have read all year!  I related a lot with the protagonist Cath, but also with lots of the other characters too!  My expectations are high now will Rowell! :)

8.  The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale
✎✎✎✎
I re-read this book so that I could continue on with the rest of the Books of Bayern series.  Let's just say that it was just as surprising and lovely the second time around.

9.  Facing the Lion by Joseph Lemasolai Lekuton
✎✎✎✎
I had to read this book for school, so I was surprised by how much I enjoyed reading it!  The stories were short but written wonderfully.  I loved every bit of this book, because it was so real.

10.  Insurgent by Veronica Roth
✎✎✎✎
With Allegiant just around the corner, I finally let myself read Insurgent.  (I had heard about a cliffhanger ending, and decided to wait!)  Overall I was pleased!  It moved at a different pace than Divergent did, even though they picked up just after one another.  Despite this, it worked fine.  My only complaint was that Tris was a little harder to connect with, but by the end of the book I had warmed up to her again.  In one word, this book is ACTION!  And a very pleasing sequel.

So that sums up what I've been reading lately!  Hopefully I'll have more time on my hands and get back to some traditional reviews! :)
